Meet Passion-driven Studio Owner
Thesele ‘Tazz B’ Sekokotoana is a versatile music producer of note. He is the owner of Les Rhythm Entertainment. His is a story of a passion and focus.
“I entered the industry in 2009. But I can say music had always been in me. I used to play as a deejay from high school in Tsákholo [Mafeteng] when there was entertainment. I took that to my varsity,” he says.
He started producing music using a mere laptop and headsets. ”I was exposed to a well-equipped studio when I went to Johannesburg to record my songs. At the time we believed quality production was done in South Africa only. To my surprise their recording studios were simple.”
The Mafeteng-born maestro took it upon himself to establish a studio within his capacity and his company was born. His lightbulb moment came when he won a business competition. But before then, his attempts to get help from well-wishers proved to be fruitless. This did not discourage him in anyway.
“I had limitations of proper recording equipment. But that changed when I won funding in a competition from Maluti Mountain Brewery named Kickstart. It helped me buy the equipment I am currently using. Without that funding I think I would still be running a struggling recording studio,” he recalls.
Sekokotoana’s bag of success looks good. He has done recordings for countless artists that include the popular Stlofa and Mookho Moqhali. Infact he is on a second album working with Stlofa.
“I will soon be launching my album which I produced in November last year and thereafter I will be on a national tour with Stlofa with him promoting his album. In Lesotho we have a problem of artists who do not know what to do with their music. They can record songs and fail to promote their work to the public. They need to be out there promoting their music”
He attributes the success of his company to three pillars: Quality work, Creativity and Versatile production.
